Pritzker Advisory Board

Chaired by Tony Pritzker, the Pritzker Advisory Board (PAB) is comprised of distinguished, senior executives from leading companies across our target investment sectors. The PAB provides strategic guidance to the firm, enhances our brand and awareness, and works with us and our group of companies to identify and access new opportunities and other areas of mutual interest.



Ruby Chandy was formerly President of the $1.3B Industrial Division of Pall Corporation.  Earlier in her career, Ruby held general management positions at Dow Chemical, Thermo Fisher Scientific, Boston Scientific, and Millipore. She also served as Chief Marketing Officer at Dow Chemical and Thermo Fisher Scientific. 

Ruby currently serves on the boards of Ametek, DuPont, and Flowserve Corporations and was previously on the board of Idex Corporation from 2006-2013.  Ruby served on the board of Infiltrator Water Technologies, a portfolio company of Ontario Teachers Private Capital and on the Executive Advisory Board of Gryphon Investors, a private equity firm based in San Francisco. She is a Mentor-in-Residence for University of Pennsylvania PCI Ventures. 

Ruby is currently on the Americas Executive Board of the MIT Sloan School and was previously on the board of Unicef New England.  Ruby received her Bachelor’s degree in Materials Science and Engineering from MIT, a Master’s Degree in Materials Science and Engineering from Northwestern University, and a Master’s degree in Business from the MIT Sloan School

Michael W. Lamach served as Executive Chair and CEO, at Trane Technologies, a global climate innovator focused on sustainable solutions for buildings, homes, and transportation for twelve years. Trane Technologies launched in 2020 upon the completion of a strategic transaction that created two leading companies – Trane Technologies and Ingersoll Rand.

Prior to Trane Technologies, Mike joined Ingersoll Rand in 2004 and served as president of the Trane Commercial business before being named the company’s president and chief operating officer. He was named chief executive officer and elected chairman of the Board of Directors in 2010. In 2019, the company announced a strategic transaction to spin off Ingersoll Rand’s Industrial segment and merge it with Gardner Denver, creating a global Industrial company, retaining the legacy name of Ingersoll Rand. The remaining climate-focused company was renamed Trane Technologies.

Prior to joining Ingersoll Rand, Lamach served in various leadership roles for Johnson Controls over a 17-year tenure, including group vice president and managing director for the European, Asian, South African, and South American businesses of Johnson Controls’ Automotive Group.

Mike holds a bachelor’s degree in engineering from Michigan State University and a master’s degree in business administration from Duke University. He serves on the boards of PPG Industries and Nucor Steel. He is former Chair of the National Association of Manufacturers, representing the American manufacturing industry at the federal level on public policy and workforce development matters. Mike is a strong advocate for sustainability, education, and economic mobility. He is active in the Charlotte community and currently serves as Chair of the Charlotte Executive Leadership Council, a coalition of CEOs serving the Charlotte community. He Co-Chairs the Charlotte Mayor’s Racial Equity Initiative and serves as Trustee for Johnson C. Smith University.

Stephen Newlin is the former Chairman and CEO of Univar Solutions, a global chemical and ingredient distributor.  Previously, Steve served as Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of PolyOne Corporation from 2006-2014 and Executive Chairman of the Board until 2016.  Prior to PolyOne, Steve was President, Industrial Sector, at Ecolab Incorporated.  He also spent 24 years at Nalco Chemical Company in positions of increasing responsibility, ultimately serving as President and Director of Nalco, and then President, Chief Operating Officer, and Vice Chairman.


Steve has served as a board member or director for many public companies, associations and civic organizations.  Currently, he serves on the board of Univar Solutions and Hexion.  He also currently serves as Chairman of the Oshkosh Corporation, a leading innovator of mission-critical vehicles and equipment.

Steve received a Bachelor’s degree in civil/environmental engineering and an honorary doctorate of public service from the South Dakota School of Mines & Technology.   He completed the Tuck Executive Program at Dartmouth College, as well as Harvard Business School's Advanced Management Program.  He also served as a commissioned officer in the U.S. Public Health Service, earning an accelerated promotion.

Doug Oberhelman served as Chairman of the Board of Directors and as Chief Executive Officer of Caterpillar Inc. beginning in 2010.  After a 41-year career with Caterpillar, he retired as CEO in December 2016 and as Executive Chairman in March 2017.

Doug joined the Caterpillar treasury department in 1975 and worked in or led a wide variety of businesses across the company.  He was elected a Caterpillar Vice President and Chief Financial Officer in 1995; and from 2002 to 2010 was a group President with responsibility for many of Caterpillar’s core businesses.  Over the course of his career at Caterpillar he lived in North America, South America and Asia, and travelled extensively throughout the world.  

Doug serves on the Board of Directors of Exxon Mobil Corporation, Peter Kiewit Sons’, Inc., and Bombardier Inc.  He is former Chair of both the Business Roundtable and the National Association of Manufacturers.  He serves as vice president of the Wetlands America Trust, is a director on the boards of the Max McGraw Wildlife Foundation and Intersect Illinois.  He is also Chairman of the Board of Trustees for the Easter Seals Foundation of Central Illinois.  He previously served on the boards of Eli Lilly and Company and Ameren Corporation. 

Manny joined Pool Corp in 1999 as President and Chief Operating Officer and became Chief Executive Officer in 2001. Over the course of his 20-year management tenure, he transformed the company into a highly profitable, worldwide supplier of swimming pool equipment, parts, and supplies. Manny remains involved as Pool’s Vice Chairman where today the company serves ~125,000 customers across over 410 locations worldwide through three primary distribution networks: SCP Distributors, Superior Pool Products, and Horizon Distributors.

Manny began his career as a financial analyst with Sea-Land Services (then a subsidiary of RJ Reynolds Industries), progressing to IBM, Fresh Del Monte Produce (then a subsidiary of RJR Nabisco and later an independent entity), and VP Distribution Operations for Watsco (“WSO”). Manny currently serves as a Board member for Pool Corp (“POOL”), Advanced Drainage Systems (“WMS”), Reece USA, US LBM, ORS Medco, and Imperial Dade. Previously, he served as the Chairman of the Board of the National Association of Wholesaler-Distributors (NAW), a leading trade association within the industry, and on the Board of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.

Manny earned his MBA from St. John’s University and his BS in Business Administration from Florida International University (FIU). Manny’s family immigrated to the United States from Cuba when he was four years old.

David Steiner is a member of the Board of Directors of FedEx, where he serves as Lead Director, and Vulcan Materials, where he serves as the Chairperson of the Nominating and Governance Committee.  From 2004 until November 2016, David served as CEO and President of Waste Management, the largest solid waste and recycling company in North America.  He also held the positions of CFO, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary, and Deputy General Counsel. 


Mr. Steiner serves on a number of non-profit and educational boards, including the EJ Ourso School of Business at LSU.  David graduated from the UCLA School of Law, with honors, and practiced Corporate and Securities law at Phelps Dunbar, Gibson, Dunn and Crutcher and Jones Walker.  David also has a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Louisiana State University, where he graduated cum laude.   

Dale W. Tremblay is the Executive Chairman of C.H. Guenther & Son (CHG), having assumed the role in April 2021 following a 20-year career as the company’s Chief Executive Officer. Prior to joining CHG in early 1998, Mr. Tremblay spent 13 years with The Quaker Oats Co., where he most recently served as President of Quaker’s Worldwide Foodservice businesses. Before joining Quaker, Mr. Tremblay held various positions with Sara Lee Corp. and R.R. Donnelley and Sons Inc.

Dale currently serves on the Board of Directors of CHG, Texas Capital Bank (HR Committee Chair), Monogram Foods, Nature Sweet Tomatoes Ltd., Haven for Hope and Opera San Antonio. He previously served on the boards of Clear Channel Outdoor Inc. (Audit Committee member and Chairman of the Compensation Committee), Keystone School, Texas Can! Academy (San Antonio) and the San Antonio Symphony (Chairman of the Board). Mr. Tremblay also previously served on the Michigan State University School of Finance Advisory Board and Community Advisory Committee for the Dallas Federal Reserve Board.

Mr. Tremblay earned a Bachelor of Arts in Financial Management from Michigan State University.

Senior Advisors

Lee Applbaum serves as a senior advisor to Bardstown Bourbon Company. Lee has been a marketing executive for more than 25 years and currently serves as Chief Marketing Officer for Wheels Up, a private jet charter company. Prior to Wheels Up, Lee served as the Chief Marketing Officer for Patrón Spirits. He was instrumental in building Patrón Spirits into the world’s top-selling ultra-premium tequila and assisted in its $5.1 billion sale to Bacardi Limited in 2018. Lee has also held Chief Marketing Officer roles at Surterra Wellness, Target Australia, RadioShack, Schottenstein Stores Corporation, David’s Bridal, Footstar Athletic and Schlotzsky's.

Lee holds a bachelor’s degree in marketing from The University of Texas at Austin and an MBA in marketing from the Isenberg School of Management at UMass Amherst.
Barry Beyer is the founder of Pathfinder Consulting LLC, which is focused on helping companies develop sustainable and continuous improvement management systems. Before dedicating himself full-time to Pathfinder, Barry worked for 10 years at Koyo Bearings USA as a site manager.  In this role, he drove improvement in labor performance, machine up time, product quality and employee satisfaction. In Koyo’s fast paced environment, he also encouraged his team to “work up a level,” which helped to permanently solve problems and drive continuous improvement on the shop floor. Barry studied and taught FMDS (Floor Management Development System) to his team at Koyo, which was utilized as the central system for daily management allowing his plant to prosper in the razor-thin margins of a high volume automotive parts supplier.  Prior to his time at Koyo, Barry worked for four other Fortune 100 companies involved in technical manufacturing, alternating between engineering and production management roles.

Barry holds a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from Purdue University.

Charlie Crew serves as a senior advisor to Plaskolite. Charlie has worked in various roles in the chemical and plastics industry for more than 40 years. He most recently served as President and CEO of SABIC Innovative Plastics, a multi-billion-dollar engineering thermoplastics business with operations in more than 25 countries and over 10,500 employees worldwide.  Charlie spent nearly 30 years at GE Plastics, holding senior leadership roles in commercial operations, managing global ventures and leading the company’s European operations. At GE Plastics, he oversaw the company’s sale to SABIC and subsequent integration efforts. He has also held numerous Board of Director roles, including currently with the Handgard Company, A&R Logistics and Unistress, as well as former Board seats with DuBois Chemicals, SABIC Company and the American Chemistry Council.

Charlie holds a bachelor’s degree in marketing from Villanova University.
John Fleming has deep experience as a leader in the customer-focused, omnichannel retail space.  He has held several executive positions over his career at retailers with exposure to multiple markets and categories.  John began his career at Dayton Hudson, previously a department store chain, as a merchant and then moved to Walmart in 2000 for ten years to lead eCommerce, marketing and merchandising.  At Walmart, he held a number of leadership positions, including Executive Vice President, Chief Marketing Officer and Executive Vice President, Chief Merchandising Officer.  From 2013 to 2016, he was Chief Executive Officer of Global eCommerce at Uniqlo, a Japanese casual wear designer, manufacturer and retailer.  Most recently he was the interim CEO for rue21, a specialty retailer of young men and women’s casual apparel and accessories, where he guided the company successfully through the pandemic.  John currently sits on the Board of Directors of Bed, Bath and Beyond, UNTUCKit, rue21, The Visual Comfort Group and formerly sat on the Board of Directors of Stitch Fix.

John received his B.A. from Colorado College.
A highly successful Supply Chain Executive with 37 years of business development, operations, and strategic development leadership.  Fred was responsible for the commercial efforts that supported the growth of GEODIS Americas from a <$100M annual revenue company in 1995 to more than $3.8B in gross revenue in 2022.  Fred earned a degree in Marketing and Transportation from the University of Memphis and participated in the Harvard Business School Managing in Crisis and Business of Platform Executive series designed specifically for GEODIS while also earning a certificate in Disruptive Strategies.  Fred served in various industry roles including as an officer in WERC and CSCMP, as an instructor at the IWLA advanced course and the logistics steering committee for the Consumer Health and Protection Agency in Washington DC.
Joe Metzger serves as a Senior Advisor to Sugar Foods Corporation. He brings extensive supply chain experience from his 35-year career. Most recently, Joe was at Walmart, where he oversaw the company’s national supply chain as Executive Vice President of Supply Chain Operations. Previously, he acted as Senior Vice President of Kellogg Company’s North America Supply Chain. He has held several Board of Director roles, including with the National FFA Organization’s Executive Sponsors Board of Directors and the Springfield, Missouri Area Chamber of Commerce, as Chairman elect. Joe received his bachelor's degree from South Dakota State University.
Greg is currently the Chairman and CEO of STG Logistics. Previously, Greg held various senior executive roles including CEO of AIR-serv and COO of Browning Ferris Industries (BFI). Greg is also the Chairman of RailWorks and a Senior Advisor to Valicor.

Greg is a graduate of Washington and Lee University.

Larry Oberkfell serves as a senior advisor to C.H. Guenther & Son. He has had a long career in the food industry marked with leadership positions at the senior-most level for a variety of organizations. For the last 13 years, prior to stepping down at the end of 2021, Larry served as the President & CEO of IFMA, the pre-eminent trade association for food service manufacturers. Larry joined IFMA in 2008 after successful leadership roles at several food industry companies including Schwan Food Company and Anchor Food Products. He also previously served as a Managing Director at GESD Capital.

Larry is the recipient of the first Oberkfell Award, created and awarded in 2021 by the IFMA Board of Directors to recognize outstanding contribution to the industry. As CEO at IFMA he served on the National Restaurant Association Board and was active in many industry-related groups such as the GS-1 Executive Committee, among others.

Larry is a graduate of University of Missouri and holds an M.B.A. from St. Louis University.

Terry serves as a Senior Advisor to Pritzker Private Capital and was previously an Operating Partner at PPC, leading the firm’s activities in the Manufactured Products sector. Terry has more than 25 years of executive experience in refining, specialty chemicals, plastics, process automation and steel.  Prior to joining Pritzker Private Capital, Terry was an Executive Advisor and member of the Advisory Board of Aurora Capital Partners for ten years.  Prior to Aurora, Terry was COO of Gerdau Ameristeel, one of the largest long steel producers in North America.  Previously, Terry joined Tyco International as one of the operating executives charged with turning around Tyco, assuming the role of President of Tyco Plastics and Adhesives. Earlier in his career he was part of AlliedSignal, which ultimately became Honeywell, in Specialty Chemicals where he had numerous roles in Business Development, Marketing and was the VP-GM of the global Fluorine Products business and then President of the global Process Solutions Division. Terry began his career with Pennzoil and Morton International.

 

Terry received his B.S. in Chemical Engineering from University of Missouri-Columbia, a M.S. in Chemical Engineering from Texas A&M University and an M.B.A. from the University of Chicago.
